Fielded in the summer of 2002, the Los Angeles Survey of Human Service Nonprofits is the first representative sample survey of the human service nonprofit sector in Los Angeles. This report details the results of that survey, shedding light on the activities of Los Angeles’ several thousand human service nonprofits during a time of growing social needs and complex financial challenges. The findings reported here address the diversity found within the sector, their attempt to meet these mandates, and the challenges and opportunities that have arisen in the process.
