This year's theme Creating Opportunities is meant to signal that the LA nonprofit sector is at some sort of a crossroad: on the one hand, after years of expansion and turbulent fiscal environments, the nonprofit sector seems to have entered a period of consolidation. Creating Opportunities is about anticipating changes, identifying future activities and sources of support, and becoming an informed and knowledgeable advocate for those served by the nonprofit and philanthropic community. For this purpose, the 2007 Report calls for a Southern California Nonprofit and Philanthropy Forecast to enable the sector to become more proactive. Above all, such an infrastructure can help bring about a renewal in the public-private partnership between the region's nonprofit and philanthropic community, government and the business community to address the region’s most pressing issues.
