A major concern in the 2005 Report is the continued uncertainty about the federal and state financial situation, and the impact that these fiscal crises will have on the capacity and sustainability of the region’s nonprofits and community organizations. While we detect resilience among nonprofit organizations in responding to an environment of reduced resources and greater needs, we also see an urgent need for more civic and philanthropic leadership locally and at the state level, in particular around greater advocacy for nonprofits and the constituencies they serve.
